7 Ways to Find Mentorship
Every Entrepreneur needs a Mentor.
So the next question is how do you get a mentor? Let me try to answer with 7 points from my experience.
1. FOLLOW THEM ONLINE 🦋
Ideal mentorship is when the person you look upto can give you dedicated, personal attention. However, note that the person has many other things demanding their attention. Be flexible about your options and expectations. Sometimes just following their work online will do.
2. OFFER SOMETHING IN EXCHANGE FOR MENTORSHIP.🌹
The person you identify as a mentor has their own issues, priorities and problems. Giving you private, dedicated mentorship is usually not that important to them. Can you help them in one way or the other? All great relationships have a give and take arrangement.
3. LOOK BEYOND IDEAL MENTORS.💕
Your ideal mentor may not be available. But someone else might be. Learn what you can from them. If they have achieved something you would like to achieve, there is something to learn from them.
4. BOOKS.👌
A book is a great mentor on a budget because books go into the kind of detail you won't get in a one on one meeting. For example, someone asks me, how can I get more customers? Which one is better? A one sentence answer or detailed explanation on 160pages? Get mentorship through books.
5. PEER MENTORS.🙏
If you can form a mastermind group with like minded friends, you can serve as peer mentors to one another.
6. GROUP MENTORSHIP. 🌺
Join a group mentorship or event. For most coaches, a group is worth it compared to helping one person whether for free or at a cost. It will also be cheaper for you.
7. BUDGET FOR A COACH.💰
One day you will feel that books are not enough. You want dedicated attention. I am yet to come across a coach who gives quality, dedicated attention for free over a long period of time. When I first tried this, I thought it was too expensive but soon learned it was worth it.
